It is Cancer awareness month and I am pleased to be part of the movement where awareness about important issues like Breast Cancer is being recognized. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in American women after skin cancer.
According to the American Cancer Association;
• About 266,120 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
• About 63,960 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
• Recently incident rate on Black women have slightly increased with 0.3% although it has remained steady with other races.
Breast cancer is the second most common leading cause of cancer in women after lung cancer which has higher mortality rate in both men and women.
The chance that a woman will die from breast cancer is about 1 in 38 (about 2.6%). Indicating the survival rate has increasing at more than 3.1 million breast cancer survivors in the United States. Which is indicative of the progress made with educating both women and some men about the early screening, detection and possible treatment plan.
My pink outfit is a form of me expressing my moral support for the breast cancer awareness month, as there is strength in numbers with every survivor, being a significant addition to not only the world but their family.
I must say this dress is one of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe mainly because of the bell sleeves that has been designed to perfection. The material is quite sturdy, making the dress structured. I love it!!
