Simple Ankara Dress

July 1, 2018

Hey Guys!

I always wanted to do a blog post on African fabric, but I wanted to do a little more research on it. Since I haven't been able to get that done yet, I had to upload this content about this gorgeous Ankara piece.

I haven't had an Ankara outfit since I left Nigeria years ago and I've been procrastinating about either getting one done or purchasing a few from one of the numerous  online retail stores that sell it.

I must say that Africans are global now, from foreigners asking about what the colorful fabrics are made of, to it being a staple in the fashion world right now.

The Ankara fabric is used in associating Africa due to the beautiful patterns and motifs. I love how versatile it is currently in the fashion industry.

My Ankara fabric was tailored to perfection in Nigeria thanks to my second mum who was hellbent on getting me one😂.

The style i chose for the ankara fabric was mainly because I needed something simple that I can dress up or just dress down. Basically, I wanted a multifunctional ankara dress. I decided to pair the off shoulder dress (which can also be worn with the sleeves up) with a simple pump heels.

Accessorizing with this outfit was a necessity for me because I wanted to add a little detailing with the neck piece, so as to make my long neck less obvious and glamorous.

You can always wear sneakers or a cute sandal with this ankara style. Like i said, it's all about versatility.
