Being a 21st Century Woman

June 27, 2018

Hey Loves!

It took me a while to create a content that suits this look and interpret a topic that is really dear to me which is "Being a woman".

We all have our different interpretations on what it means or how it feels to be a 21st century woman, but one thing we can all agree on is the fact that we can speak up better than our mothers and grandmothers did.

I have learnt to take a stand, speak out, know when to take a sit but not be shut down. Women are strong, smart, and seriously capable of doing just about everything.

Coming from an African background we were being told that being a woman mainly entails to being a diligent wife, obligated mother and the best cook. There is nothing wrong with being all that and more.

I have made up my mind to not only be a super-mum but also teach my daughter that her role is not only subjected to the home front, but to make an impact in the community or the world.

I am a feminist and I'm glad that people are finally learning that feminism just means equality. Women are now in different sectors of the government, Medicine, Fashion etc. We are pushing boundaries and breaking stereotypes, but still not getting that equal pay or respect we worked for.

The Truth about being a Woman:

1. There is no such thing as a "Real Woman"- A "Real Woman" has curves or flat as a roti pan. She is tall or short or whatever size she finds herself. Every woman is a real woman because she is a human being . There are as many kinds of Real women as there are actual women.

(thoughtcatalog)

2.  The people you will be pitted against most in your life are other women. Don't fall for it!

"A flower does not think of competing with the next flower to it. It just blooms."

I can't emphasize enough on the way some women tear down the next woman just to make themselves feel better. I tell people around me that if we women join heads together, we will be one formidable force. I'm very cautious of someone else coming to tear down another female in my presence, because I naturally shut it down.

Being a woman can be though but I would choose being a strong black woman all day everyday😍 👑
